Global, 1st Flagship took center stage at the nationwide American Equity Underwriters (AEU) conference, where we received accolades for our exceptional execution of the AEU Lead Program. For years, Global has stood hand in hand with AEU, to facilitate our Longshore Workman’s Compensation Policies.
Our partnership spans 18 years, a testament to our shared dedication to excellence. AEU, known for their commitment to partner companies’ safety, has woven leadership development seamlessly into their philosophy. The AEU LEAD Program is an example of this commitment. AEU LEAD was a program developed to implement a 26-week micro training program for frontline supervisors and is typically between 7-10 minutes with a corresponding facilitated discussion. Ideally supervisors and managers will find ways to incorporate their learned skill into daily tasks.
Gone are the days of traditional training formats that pulled employees away for lengthy off-site sessions. Micro-trainings have emerged as the vanguard of effective learning. These brief sessions ensure skills are not only retained but executed. Topics ranging from Effective Communication, to Seeking Input, to Gaining Employee Buy-In, allow AEU LEAD to delve into the intricate components of leadership.
Leadership training for not only the Managers, but also for frontline Supervisors aligns with Global’s culture and core values, of Safety, Commitment, Integrity, Respect, Accountability, and Growth. Our Vice President of Human Resources worked closely with the AEU Lead Trainer and traveled to our three Inactive Ship Locations to kick-off the training sessions. From there our site managers lead the initial meetings and passed on the facilitator duties to the other managers and supervisors allowing everyone to feel committed to the process.
Our site manager at Pearl Harbor Inactive Ships location has stated that “The need for management and supervisor training has never been more important. Today’s workforce is better educated and more aware of their needs and what it takes to make them feel involved, appreciated, and necessary to the growth of their chosen work place. AEU Leadership training provides a thought provoking insight into many areas of interest, creating an awareness in our management staff and front line supervisors on how to be effective in their relationships with employees. Modules such as Connecting with Employees, Demonstrating Credibility, Communicating Effectively, Follow Up & Closure, Time Management, just to name a few have increased my6 staff’s recognition and appreciation of the role they play to ensure a healthy and vibrant work place. As we proceed further into the leadership training and sessions of discussion, it is clear to me that all hands benefit. Managers and front line supervisors manage their time more constructively, communicate more effectively with their teams, and all employees feel more involved and appreciated”.
We look forward to seeing the short-term and long-term impact of leadership training and appreciate the commitment from our site employees and AEU. As we set sail on this exciting chapter, we remain firm in our commitment to our core values and continual development of our frontline leaders.
